State of Emergence
Mass Culture is pleased to announce that we have received funding from the Canada Council for the Arts’ Digital Strategy Fund for State of Emergence, a new initiative exploring online capabilities for fostering inclusive dialogue, giving voice to a plurality of perspectives and building a community of practice.
Working with a group of equity-seeking arts leaders from across Canada, we will co-design and test formats, produce thinkpieces about the value of art, inclusion and diversity in society, and disseminate our learnings about the use of technology and experience design.
Implementing an iterative process, we will research and test tools and techniques, reflect and share, and apply and expand our insights to a larger scale, with the overarching goals to support dialogues across disciplines, sectors, cultures and generations through the lens of four core pillars: Equity, Diversity & Inclusion; Community-engaged Arts; Giving Voice; and Arts Access & Creative Learning.
Mass Culture hopes to engage in active research throughout the State of Emergence’s life cycle, and that all involved will come to see themselves as agents of change and central to this work. The project will be shaped by creative practitioners’ needs and desires, and we invite all interested individuals, communities and organizations to register their interest for participation.
We will reflect upon this journey through blog posts, podcasts and more, to document this journey and amplify the possibility for dialogue.
Updates will be posted on the State of Emergence section of the Mass Culture website and through our newsletter and social media.
