Session outline

Intro

This dynamic and collaborative workshop helps arts organizations strategically define and articulate their desired impact through group discussions, brainstorming, and interactive exercise. Participants will explore how to identify the individuals, communities, or sectors they aim to influence, the type of impact they envision, and the key stakeholders who care about these outcomes. This session serves as the foundational step in building a compelling case for funders, audiences, and partners.

Key topics :

  • Defining target audiences and areas of influence
  • Clarifying types of impact (social, cultural, economic, etc.)
  • Mapping and understanding stakeholders (public funders, donors, audiences)
  • Exploring practical next steps for data-driven impact storytelling

What You'll Learn

  • Clarity on impact: Participants will gain a sharper understanding of who and what their organization influences.
  • Strategic focus: They’ll walk away with a clear sense of where to direct their efforts when defining and measuring impact. Participants will understand that before diving into data, it’s essential to ask the right strategic questions. This prevents them from scattering their focus or feeling overwhelmed by data, avoiding a tech-driven, solution-first approach that may lack clear direction.
  • Audience mapping – Attendees will learn how to identify the right audiences to showcase their impact to (funders, donors, audiences, etc.).
  • Next steps and key questions: Participants will leave with a clear understanding of the next steps and the critical questions to ask when crafting impactful data stories. They’ll get a preview of how data and measurement can enhance their storytelling in future stages.
  • An over of organization data:  Attendees will gain an overview of the types of data typically found in arts organizations and how this data can help answer strategic questions
